Even if Japan is part of the big 3, which is the top 3 leading countries in the world, it still is very dependent to some countries that provide them with the basic necessities and natural resources that are not available in their country. This interdependence caused them a fortune with primary energy needs alone. They import 90% of fossil fuel due to Japan’s shortage of minerals and energy. You cannot be graced with everything even if you are the most powerful country on earth. You would always need a hand with something.
One of their biggest contributors is the Middle East because the provide 66% of fueled oil back in the 1974 circa. As we see it Japan was not prepared for the Oil Shock in 1973 even if they already had 5 operating reactors at that time. It was just not enough. At present times Japan finally made it a top priority for their dependence on oil imports to reduce dramatically. A fuel cycle was soon adopted in order to maximize the importation of uranium in the country.

Understanding Japan
As Japan continues to progress the contraptions they’ve built in the past haunts them and delays any further progress. Fukushima the infamous reactor wherein Japan has been tagged responsible for being irresponsible and having mediocre safety standards for nuclear power sources. Since the tsunami in 2011 that caused it to crumble down, for more than 3 years now the problem has not been decreased to 50% of its effects.
This disaster does not stop Japan from utilizing these machines but they even got inspired to inventing a better one of its kind. The Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) created a model that would decrease the emissions of CO2 by 54% by 2050 and a forecast of 90% decrease by 2100. It is a long shot but in due time all things can be repaired and the mess once made could be dealt with.
